Individual therapy is an opportunity to explore your internal world and relationships in a supportive, nonjudgmental setting. The role of the therapist is to help you examine thoughts, feelings, beliefs, and behaviors, while supporting you in making choices which positively impact your mind, body, spirit, and relationships.
I welcome traditional, blended, poly & LGBTQ families. Family therapy focuses on relationships between individuals in the family. The goal of family therapy is to enhance healthy behavior and communication between all family members so that each person can feel comfortable with their relationships and roles in the family.
Adolescence is a time of great physical and emotional change. It is also a time involving an increased desire for independence, social relationships, and identity formation. Adolescent therapy is most often a combination of individual and family work to support the adolescent in making healthy choices, exploring identity, and improving relationships with parents, siblings, and friends.
If you are in the process of exploring your gender identity, or needing to transition, I offer therapy to support you in your process. I provide letters and referrals for hormones and surgery when appropriate, as well as information on other trans-friendly services that may be helpful.
Studies have shown that spending time in nature boosts mental health, reduces anxiety and improves mood. Nature-based sessions take place outside, either walking or sitting so that you can experience the added benefit of nature while receiving therapy.
Whether you are in the process of exploring your gender or sexual identity, or if you already know how you identify, it is vital to know that your therapist has a strong understanding of the joys and challenges of being LGBTQQIA and will celebrate and support your process and relationships.
